Attractive Chinese Cities for expats was released on April 15, 2018. Qingdao takes No. 4 place after Shanghai, Beijing and Hefei and hits the list for the seventh consecutive year. At the same time, Qingdao Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau won “Outstanding Contribution Award” issued by Shandong Association for International Exchange of Personnel.
The ranking, titled "Amazing China: the Most Attractive Chinese Cities for Foreigners," released by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, was launched in 2010. It is the only ranking for Chinese mainland cities voted on completely by foreigners for four indexes: expat-friendly policies, governmental administrative capacity and working and living environments. The ranking was based on a poll carried out among over 30,000 foreign professionals throughout China via paper and online voting between November in 2017 and February in 2018.
As per Ji Min, director of Qingdao Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, 15,000 foreigners were attracted to Qingdao for study, work and living in recent five years. Many of them won national and provincial friendship awards and made their contributions to the economic and social development of Qingdao.
