World's First AI Model for Port Services Launches Public Beta

Shandong Port Groups (SPG) Qingdao Port, in partnership with Shandong Port Science and Technology Group, officially launched the public beta of Ark TaaS (Trade as a Service), the world’s first large-scale AI model dedicated to port services, on January 23. Designed to address key aspects of maritime import and export trade, the model introduces six core application scenarios, driving innovation and efficiency in port and shipping logistics.

The Ark TaaS model is built on the Yungangtong platform, leveraging advanced AI technology to maximize its strengths in natural language processing, knowledge reasoning, and decision-making, integrating intelligent services into all aspects of port management to serve the needs of shipowners, cargo owners, and freight forwarders. The model spans multiple areas, including daily port operations, business analytics, production management, smart office functions, and logistics services

The Ark TaaS model introduces six key application scenarios. In Smart Inquiry, AI is utilized to intelligently plan transportation routes and estimate costs, helping cargo owners and freight forwarders select optimal shipping solutions to enhance logistics efficiency. In Smart Navigation, the model provides on-site drivers with personalized business consultations and port navigation, improving operational efficiency and reducing parking wait times. Shipowners Assistant application offers shipowners and agents services such as real-time vessel tracking and KPI inquiries for better management. In Port Guide application, information is aggregated from ports, customs, and maritime authorities to deliver accurate policy guidance, business processes, and industry updates through intelligent Q&A. In Smart Customs Clearance, cargo owners and freight forwarders will be assisted with HS Code matching and import/export clearance guidelines to streamline customs procedures. The Intelligent Tracking application enables real-time tracking of container movements, providing customers with transparent and controllable logistics data for greater visibility into cargo flow within the port.

The public beta of the Ark TaaS model marks a significant milestone for Qingdao Port, signaling its transition into a new era of digitalization and intelligence. This development is set to accelerate SPGs efforts to build a fully integrated intelligent service network for vehicles, vessels, and cargo, reinforcing SPGs position as a global leader in the competitive port industry by enhancing end-to-end port service efficiency and driving the smart transformation of port operations.
